Prof. Lawrence Banks
ICGEB

Abstract
The ICGEB is an international organisation promoting cooperation and collaboration between our 66 Member Countries. Our scientific activities span research on a range of communicable and non-communicable diseases, crop improvement and the development of improved biofuels. The aim being to promote sustainable development and real improvements in living standards across all of our Member Countries. In this presentation I shall first focus on the different programmes of ICGEB and how these can be accessed by scientists across the ICGEB community, in which of course Italy is a major partner. In the second part I shall discuss the activities of my own research group, Tumour Virology, which focuses on Human Papillomaviruses and their role in the development of human cancers, the most important of which is cervical cancer.
