Beamline

Beamline

This software is used to control the beamline valves, read/set the energy and read the mesh current on the MSB-STATION computer.

Item Description Options
Beam beam status OK (beam available for users)
not available
Water cooling water status
(prefocus, entrance slit, monochromator)
OK (normal flux)
warning (not enough flux)
poor (no flux)
Pressures pressure status along the beamline OK (all safe)
bad (not safe, e.g. during Ar sputtering)
Valves status of 10 electropneumatic valves
along the beamline
all closed (safe)
partly open (some open, some closed)
in standby (valves 1-9 open, valve 10 closed; beamline warming up)
all open (beam in the analysis chamber, ready for data acquisition)
operating... (opening or closing in progress)
Close close all open valves
Standby set valves 1-9 open, valve 10 closed to warm up
the beamline or keep warm after acquisition
error is displayed if the opening is unsuccessful (e.g. interlocked
by the beam operators during injection)
Acquire open valve 10 to allow the beam
in the analysis chamber for data acquisition

Scheduling schedule opening or closing the beamline OFF (no schedule)
Close at [selected date/time], e.g. after the planned measurements
Standby at [selected time], e.g. open valves 1-9 next morning
to preheat the beamline before you arrive to work
Standby when beam available preheat the beamline
when the beam becomes available after a beam dump
Energy energy set by the monochromator
Set tune the energy to the selected value
Mesh current photocurrent from the gold mesh reflecting the photon flux
View last time range of the horizontal axis of the mesh current graph
Cursor position of the mouse pointer in the mesh current graph
EXIT closes this software
Average mesh currents mesh currents at each energy averaged over the acquisition
period; new averaging is started at each
valve operation and energy tuning
black values are valid
red values are not valid (valves closed, energy tuning...)
