Understanding charge transport in organic materials for improving device performances
Università di Bologna
Abstract
The understanding of charge transport phenomena in organic materials is a key parameter to be addressed for improving the performances of existing organic electronics devices (OLEDs, sensors/biosensors, organic photovoltaic cells, FETs, etc), and it is still matter of hot scientific debate.
In this frame, an overview of the work carried out in the fields of enzyme-based biosensors, polymeric LEDs, single crystal molecular organic FETs at the dept. of Industrial and Materials Chemistry of Bologna will be presented. Particular emphasis will be given to the role of the parameters influencing charge transport both into the bulk of the organic semiconducting/conducting materials, and at the interfaces between these materials and the surrounding media (inorganic electrodes, enzymes, gases, solutions).
