Results from the regional project AMBIOSEN (Environmental and Biological Sensors Based Nanowires and Nanotubes)

Abstract
The aim of this project was to use the technical / scientific knowledge of Elettra, IOM and University of Trieste for the study, characterization and development of nanostructured systems (in particular carbon nanotubes and semiconductor nanowires), which have a number of aspects that make them suitable for applications in the fields of environmental sensors (pollution and environmental safety) and detection of biomolecules (biochips and doping). This project has permitted, from one hand, the construction of sensor prototype devices and, on the other hand, has enabled Elettra for a more competitive user service through the modernization of some experimental beamlines.
