Connection request to ST-GuestNet from outside

If you want to have a ST-GuestNet connection ready at your arrival, you have two possibilities:

Case 1: People requesting access to ST through our Virtual User Office (VUO)

During VUO submission, you can ask for a STGN connection by simply checking the specific check-box. Then you will receive an e-mail with your Username and Password to use when at ST (see below).

Case 2: Guest with no VUO registration

If you are a guest, lecturer, collaborator, etc. coming to ST for a fixed period and you want to request a wireless connection before coming, you have to fill this form:

Your Trustee, a group of people or a single one visible by clicking the question mark, will receive your request and, if everything is ok, will enable your connection. At the same time you will receive an e-mail to your account with username and password to use when you are at ST. If nothing arrives, please check also your e-mail account spam folder before contacting us for the problem. Follow this link to access the form.

What to do when you are at ST

After switching on your wireless network card, you need to join the ST-GuestNet wireless network, where available, in plain mode (neither WEP nor WPA).

After a while your computer will get an IP address. Fire up an Internet Browser (we recommend Firefox) and enter any URL. You'll get an authentication page.

Give your Username and Password and that's all.

Notes

Your connection will stay on as long as your computer is connected to STGN, and up to your account's expiration date.

If you put your computer in Standby, Hibernation mode, you switch it off or you disconnect it from the network, you'll need to reauthenticate again.
