How to switch the branchline (e.g. from A to B, from A to C...)
Only for beamline staff. This procedure is not inteded for users.

082 BCS: PEM1: Optical Encoder:MZ-PEM1 positionCENTRAL PEM1 HEIDENHEIM_20 ASSEZ is different from 0 and the STATUS iS 0 (AND NOT 8).
IF STATUS is 8 and encoder is 0 you need to call Michele Turcinovich and ask to reboot the ENCODER (it is not necessary to restart the bcs).

Endswitch pressed
If one of the Z axis switches is pressed, you can move the chamber into the correct position with small motor steps from BCS, watching the Encoder readings on the Heidenhain controller display:
- On the main BCS web page, click on PEM1, then go to "(DSM_21) Dig. stepper motor".
- Note Z axis position and click on "(6MVREL) Z axis relative move".
- Move Z axis step by step. Start with small steps (e.g. -10). When the direction is correct, you can try more steps. Relative movement -100 motor steps, will move Z by about -0.2 mm (on the Heidenhain encoder display).

FROM A TO B
1. POSTHORA. Z. Read. It should be UserUnits=-23 (UPDATE: August2014: found -21more flux but Io more noisy), Encoder +23 (Branchline A)
2. POSTHORB. Z. Read. It should be UserUnits=-63 (BRACH A), Encoder +23 (Branchline A). If OVERWRITE or RESTORE message appears, it is likely you have to select OVERWRITE.
3. POSTHORB. Z. Move UserUnits to -15 (OLD VALUE WAS -18), Encoder -25 (OLD VALUE was -22) (Branchline B).
4. POSTHORA. Z. Read. A message OVERWRITE/RESTORE will appear. Press Overwrite. Now you should read: UserUnits=+25 (Told value was +22), Encoder -25 (OLD VALUE was -22)(Branchline A). If OVERWRITE or RESTORE message appears, it is likely you have to select OVERWRITE.
FROM A TO C:
1. POSTHORA. Z. Read. It should be UserUnits=-23 (UPDATED GEN2011. NOTE: THE OLD VALUE WAS -26), Encoder +23 (Branchline A)
2. POSTHORA. Z. Move User Units to 0 (zero). Enc=0.

FROM C TO A
1. POSTHORA. Z. Read. It should be UserUnits=0 Encoder 0 (Branchline C)
2. POSTHORA. Z. Move User Units to -23 (zero). Enc=+23.
FROM C TO B
1. POSTHORB. Z. Read. It should be UserUnits=-40 Encoder 0 (Branchline C)
2. POSTHORB. Z. Move User Units to -15 (zero). Enc=-25
Before starting to move check that the value in 082 BCS: CENTRAL PEM1 HEIDENHEIM_20 ASSEZ is different from 0 and the STATUS iS 0 (AND NOT 8).
IF STATUS is 8 and encoder is 0 you need to call Michele Turcinovich and ask to reboot the ENCODER (not the bcs).
